Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
Stop Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
Sweating is a natural phenomenon necessary for the regulation of body temperature. For 1% of the population their system is overactive causing the over-production of sweat. This can have a devastating effect on the social life of those affected.
What triggers Hyperhidrosis?
Though commonly found in adults, Hyperhidrosis (HH) can be a hereditary condition that appears in adolescence and persists for life. Botox® Therapeutic acts to block the transmission of nerve impulses that trigger Hyperhidrosis.
Ideal Treatment Area(s)
Excessive sweating occurs primarily in the forehead, scalp, underarms, and hands and feet.
Advantages
Hyperhidrosis does not pose a health threat. Results typically last 4-18 months, and treatment is generally covered by extended health plans.
Expectations
Physician-administered injections of Botox® Therapeutic have proven highly effective in the treatment of Hyperhidrosis.
Multiple injections are required since the effects of Botox are temporary, and each injection affects an approximate area of 1 cm in diameter.
Though Hyperhidrosis is not life threatening, most treatments are performed to improve quality of life.
